CTC Right to Ride Information

CTC's Right to Ride network is the largest team of dedicated cycle campaigners in the UK. The network is made up of local representatives who campaign for better cycling conditions in their area, and who support the Campaigns and Policy department's national agenda.

Our reps specialise in one or more of the following: on-road cycling (e.g. urban, commuter and utility cycling); 'off road' cycling (e.g. mountain biking, rights of way and recreational cycling), and public transport (i.e. the integration of bikes with trains, buses and ferries).

The CTC's Right to Ride Rep in Sheffield is Simon Geller. He specialises in on-road cycling and public transport. There are therefore vacancies for RTR's to work in the other areas mentioned above and in any case, a city the size of Sheffield (pop: 520,000) could do with more than one rep. If you think you might be interested in volunteering by all means talk to Simon in the first instance, or contact the CTC direct. Note: you do have to be a CTC member to be a Right to Ride rep (and you should be anyway)

Infomation about Right to Ride activities in Sheffield will be posted here.

7th February:

Received notification of plans to create dedicatd parking spaces for Car Pool vehicles in the city centre. We SUPPORT this as it will result in fewer cars in the city overall. (Note: Car Pools are vehicles available to non-car owners to book as and when needed. This is different from the US concept of car pooling, which we would call car-sharing)

Received notification of orders to allow motorcycles to use bus gates in the city. We OBJECT to this proposal primarily because we believe it will deter cyclists from using these facilities.
